This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the
resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and
investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,
and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is
for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.
Long-term survivors of several cancer types who meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria will be randomized to either the Intervention Condition (IC), or to the Control Condition (CC). The Intervention Condition combines a formalized program of exercise training, provided in an individualized format with the standard educational material provided in our ACCESS cancer survivorship program. The Control Condition includes provision of educational material, without a formal exercise program. Both groups will also continue whatever physical activities the survivor might normally engage in. 20 subjects will be assigned to each condition. IC subjects will receive a 12 weeklong aerobic exercise and physical activity program, coupled with health and fitness education. CC subjects will receive only the health and fitness education. Primary outcome measures, including DEXA scans, will be administered to both the IC and CC subjects at the beginning (week 0) and the end of the intervention (week 12), and again at three-month follow-up (week 24). The primary outcome measures will violate specific aspects of physical functioning and health-related quality of life.

Publications
Publications are associated with projects, but cannot be identified with any particular year of the project or fiscal year of funding. This is due to the continuous and cumulative nature of knowledge generation across the life of a project and the sometimes long and variable publishing timeline. Similarly, for multi-component projects, publications are associated with the parent core project and not with individual sub-projects.
