Public Health Relevance Statement
The project will evaluate the quality of supportive cancer care which addresses the quality of life needs of
many veterans and their families living with a highly symptomatic serious chronic condition. Cancer is one of
the highest cost chronic conditions for VA and this project is the first quality measurement tool to evaluate
ways to alleviate symptomatic needs of patients under treatment and with advanced disease. The project
addresses a cross cutting problem that may impact the organization and integration of a variety of clinical
services including palliative care and oncology.

Publications
Publications are associated with projects, but cannot be identified with any particular year of the project or fiscal year of funding. This is due to the continuous and cumulative nature of knowledge generation across the life of a project and the sometimes long and variable publishing timeline. Similarly, for multi-component projects, publications are associated with the parent core project and not with individual sub-projects.
