Description
Abstract Text
Continued participation in NCI-funded research through NCTN program as a LAPS site is in
alignment with the missions of the Duke School of Medicine and the DCI. The DCI faculty are
heavily focused on translation of discovery to the clinic and from the clinic to the community. The
NCTN program has provided structure for our faculty to bring scientific discovery from Duke to
clinical research being conducted on a national level and at the same time gives us an opportunity
to participate in and/or lead a portfolio of clinical studies designed to improve cancer therapy for
our patients through better diagnostics, imaging, and targeted therapies. Duke has a long-
standing history of NCI sponsored clinical trial research and we also maintain active memberships
in all 4 Adult networks, including positions of leadership in Alliance, ECOG-ACRIN, NRG and
SWOG. The DCI infrastructure support, along with our long-standing participation as an institution
in cooperative group/NCTN activities, clearly demonstrates our continued commitment to NCI-
funded clinical research.
Duke Faculty have contributed substantially to the scientific leadership of NCTN Network Groups
and NCI initiatives. Since the inception of the NCTN over the last 2 grant cycles, Duke faculty
have filled more than 140 NCTN committee positions, including 2 chairs, 4 imaging chairs, 3 co-
chairs, and 4 vice-chair positions. Duke Faculty have demonstrated active participation that has
led to more than X publications since 2019. Duke investigators have also served as study chairs
or co-chairs for X trials over since Mar 2019.[AT1] [JR2]

PROJECT NARRATIVE
Participation of patients and investigators in National Clinical TrialsNetwork (NCTN) clinical trials
is vital to our understanding of the biology and treatment of cancer. Support of NCTN leadership
activities of Duke faculty and clinical research staff effort will help us maintain our high patient
enrollment and robust scientific participation in clinical trials of national importance.

Publications
Publications are associated with projects, but cannot be identified with any particular year of the project or fiscal year of funding. This is due to the continuous and cumulative nature of knowledge generation across the life of a project and the sometimes long and variable publishing timeline. Similarly, for multi-component projects, publications are associated with the parent core project and not with individual sub-projects.
